Home Mortgage Grants and Assistance

May 28th, 2009

Many states offer home mortgage grants to provide first time home buyers and new home owners with down payment assistance, loan help, and related financial resources to help wit the buying process. These programs can be found by searching the grant database to see the current available funding programs and how to apply for them.

Individuals with bad credit or those who need financial assistance with closing costs or down payment monies can apply for home mortgage grants and receive as much as $20,000 in cash to help with their real estate purchase. There are terms with these grants, generally requiring individuals to own the home for at least 3 years, but as long as there is no violation in the agreement the money never has to be paid back.

Who Qualifies for Home Mortgage Grants?

Anyone that is at least 18 years old and a tax paying citizen can apply for a home mortgage grant. There are additional eligibility requirements, which can be reviewed by searching the list of available mortgage assistance programs.

While a many of these programs are provided to help new home buyers with incentives and aid to buy real estate, there may be grants available to help existing home owners meet their mortgage responsibilities. Those who are facing financial hardship and are at risk to losing their home can find government and private organizations that can assist with those payments. Funding is available for:

  • First Time Home Buyers
  • Mortgage Help for Financial Hardship
  • New Home Owners and Investors

Getting your application approved and being awarded for a mortgage grant may have nothing to do with income or credit. Some grants are provided as a way to propel urban development or increase home values in particular neighborhoods. Whatever the case, there may be grant funding available to help individuals come up with down payment funds, closing costs, or mortgage payment assistance.
